HAL has modified a fighter plane with its own capital and hoping to sell it purely on the merits
====================
HAL manufactures the indigenous Tejas so it wants to have higher production. Newer versions of Tejas are being worked on by DRDO and HAL. HAL is modifying the inner layout of Tejas trainer (2-seater version) with inputs from Indian Airforce and Indian Navy. Since IAF wants the Tejas trainer, it follows that IAF will be using the supersonic trainer for advanced training of Tejas pilots.

HAL went with the idea that IAF may also want a supersonic trainer for its foreign fighters. It has come up with a modified Tejas trainer (called "SPORT") for foreign fighters, as mentioned in the video. HAL's pitch is that SPORT will:
-- offer more a realistic training experience than sub-sonic trainers
-- introduce pilots to innovative concepts early in their career
-- have an Indian-centric design that is best suited for training
-- reduce the costly use of foreign fighters in training
