Gujarat auction produces a new low for wind tariffs, with 5 companies bidding Rs 2.43-2.44/unit!! Wind tariff matches record-low solar tariff of ₹2.44 attained at prime location in Rajasthan!! It dispels doubts that a Rs2.64 bid in Oct 17 was unsustainable. Overall this will speed up the roll-out, more so because India has strong domestic wind equipment manufacturers.

"Solar and wind should become even cheaper, with tariffs dipping below Rs 2 in the next 3 years. States like TG, Kar, TN, AP are blessed with best of solar radiation and wind energy, and will become exporters of power in future. India should building a lot of power corridors to freely exchange this very cheap electricity, " says private sector transmission executive.
